THE PRODUCTION
Made in Germany & Austria
The POP boat fender is a 100% European product: the technology center, development and research are based in Austria, while the components are produced in Austria and Germany.
The TPV material is produced in Wales UK and in the USA, TPU in Germany.
We have also made sure that our additional products come from Europe.
This keeps the supply routes short and we can be sure that the production is fair and of high quality.
A brief insight into our production.
Tensile test
compact – elastic – floats
Small & Compact
The POP boat fender can be telescoped on both sides from 620mm to 250mm. The POP Fender is therefore smaller than ANY other fender.
There are new, unimagined stowage possibilities like never before. The POP Fender really saves space on the boat! Pure luxury!
Highly Stable
The POP boat fender is elastic and at the same time dimensionally stable, temperature fluctuations do not affect it – i.e. it does not implode or inflate.
As temperatures rise, the POP Fender becomes a little softer, as temperatures fall it becomes a little stiffer, but it also works at sub-zero temperatures.
Never run out of air again!
The POP boat fender is air-free – you don’t need a pump. The POP fender cannot burst as a result – no valve problems.
Environment | Material
The POP boat fender is made from the material TPV – these are thermoplastic vulcanizates or cross-linked thermoplastic elastomers based on olefins, predominantly EPDM with a small proportion of polypropylene (PP). TPV is:
- free from harmful substances and plasticizers
- non-toxic
- durable
- recyclable
Conventional fenders are all made of PVC, which directly harms the environment by outgassing the plasticizers which is no longer justifiable nowadays.
Once your POP Fender is getting on in years, you can send it back to us. We wash and shred the old POP Fenders so that the material can be reused. In this way, everyone contributes a little bit to a more sustainable world!
Further features and properties of TPV SANTROPENE:
- Application for sealing lines
- UV aging, ozone and weathering resistance
- Chemical and oil resistance
- High resilience over a wide temperature range
- High bending fatigue strength
- High thermal and electrical insulation values
- Weight reduction through the redesign of components compared to thermoset rubber
- Colorability – metallic, photochromic/thermochromic effects
- Aesthetics – options for surface, feel and look
- Recyclable
For the nerds among you, here are some links for more info about the material:
No squeaking
Conventional boat fenders “stick” to the surface of the boat and cause the unpleasant squeaking noise. The telescopic POP fender does not stick or squeak and therefore protects the hull of the boatas no high friction is generated.
The POP Fender material TPV does not contain plasticizers and therefore does not squeak.
There is also less streaking.
Gentle on the hull
The POP boat fender is gentler on the hull than conventional PVC fenders because it does not pick or stick to the surface. The friction coefficient of the POP fender material is lower, as confirmed by many customers. Very suitable for foiled boats and wooden boats.
With POP Fender you don’t need fender socks anymore either! Saved money again and the socks aren’t always that practical if you listen to the opinions from this forum:
However, if there are any traces, they can be easily removed.
Works under water
The POP boat fender is the first fender that can also be used under water. It can float naturally because the material has a density of 0.92kg/dm³, making it lighter than water.
NOK locks start at an angle (see picture). As you can use the POP Fender underwater, the underwater hull does not hit the lock wall.
